Prospect Psurny Named WHL Player of Week

Rangers prospect Roman Psurny, the team's fifth-round pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, was named the Greyhound Western Hockey League Player of the Week on Monday for the period ending March 19.

Psurny earned the honor by scoring five goals and eight points, including three power-play goals in three games for Medicine Hat. Psurny also had a plus-minus rating of +5 and no penalties while helping the Tigers to a 2-0-0-1 record for the week and the WHL Regular Season title for the first time in 20 years.

On March 15, Psurny scored two goals and added two assists in a 7-1 win against the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes. On March 18, he recorded a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win against the visiting Swift Current Broncos, and on March 19, he recorded two goals in a 5-4 shootout loss against the visiting Regina Pats.

Psurny, 19, is a native of Zlin, Czech Republic. He is playing his second season with the Tigers.
