Rangers (30-31-6, 66 pts) at Lightning (46-17-4, 96 pts)

7:30 pm; Amalie Arena, Tampa, FL

MSG Network; ESPN 98.7 FM

Wednesday marks the first time the Rangers will face former Blueshirts Dan Girardi and J.T. Miller. Girardi was bought out from his contract over the summer, while Miller was involved in last week's deal with the Lightning at the trade deadline that included Ryan McDonagh for Vladsilav Namestnikov, prospects and draft choices.
McDonagh, still recovering from injury, has not played a game yet for the Lightning and is not expected to make his debut against his former club.
The Rangers won the first and only meeting thus far between the two teams back on Nov. 2 in Tampa, with Lundqvist making 27 saves in the victory.
The Lightning come in atop the NHL standings with 96 points. They've won three straight and eight of their last 10, with just one regulation loss during that stretch. Tampa topped the red-hot Panthers, 5-4, Tuesday night.
Hart Trophy candidate Nikita Kucherov leads the club with 33 goals and 86 points in 65 games, followed by Steven Stamkos' 78 in 67. Second-year forward Brayden Point has 57 points, including 27 goals, and rookie Yanni Gourde has 53 points.
Goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy is in the conversation for the Vezina Trophy with a 39-12-3 campaign thus far with a .925 SV% and a 2.44 GAA with seven shutouts.

Players to Watch

After posing seven points in three games with the Rangers, Ryan Spooner has been held off the scoresheet the previous two games. A remedy could be coming, though, as Spooner has had success against the Lightning as of late with a point in four of his last six games against the Lightning.
With 86 points in 65 games, there's few nights when Kucherov hasn't contributed offensively. But his numbers as of late have been off the chart with points in 12 of his last 14 games, with six goals and 16 assists during that stretch.

Say What?

"Obviously it'll be different seeing those guys in different colors. At the end of the day it's a hockey game and both teams are trying to win. Once we see them and once we say hi, it's all business and we're looking to get two points." - Brady Skjei on facing his former teammates

Inside the Numbers

The Rangers have won five of their last six games against Tampa Bay, dating back to Dec. 30, 2015 (5-1-0 record over the span). The Blueshirts have outscored the Lightning, 19-9, in the six contests.
