Team Notes

  • POWER SURGE - The Rangers tallied a power play goal in tonight's game and have registered three power play goals through their first three preseason games this year.
  • KILL ZONE - New York was 2-for-2 on the penalty kill in tonight's contest. The Rangers are 15-for-16 on the penalty kill through three preseason games this year (93.8%).
  • Vinni Lettieri registered a power play goal in tonight's game. Lettieri registered 37 points (19 goals, 18 assists) in 38 games with the University of Minnesota last season, and he established collegiate career-highs in games played, goals, and points in 2016-17.
  • Filip Chytil notched a power play assist in the contest. He has recorded two power play points (one goal, one assist) in two preseason games this year. Chytil, who was selected by the Rangers in the first round (21st overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, ranked second among players younger than 18 years old in Czech Extraliga in games played (38), goals (four), and points (eight) during the 2016-17 season.
  • Pavel Buchnevich recorded a power play assist in tonight's game. He notched 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in 41 games during his rookie season in 2016-17, and he became the first Ranger to tally at least 13 points in his first 13 career NHL games since Don Maloney in 1978-79. Buchnevich also ranked eighth among NHL rookies (min. 20 games played) in points per 60 minutes of ice time (2.21) and tied for ninth in assists per 60 minutes of ice time (1.32) last season.
  • Ondrej Pavelec made 13 saves in tonight's game and stopped all eight shots he faced in the first period. He has stopped 23 of 25 shots he has faced in the four periods he has played thus far in the preseason this year (.920 SV%).
  • Chris Nell did not allow a goal in the third period while making his first appearance of the preseason in tonight's game.
