Team Notes

  • KILL ZONE - The Rangers were 4-for-4 (8:00) on the penalty kill in tonight's contest.
  • HOT AT THE DOT - The Blueshirts won 31 of 60 faceoffs in tonight's game (51.7%). New York has posted a faceoff win percentage of 50.0% or better in five of 10 games this season.
  • Henrik Lundqvist made 33 saves in tonight's contest, and he made 10 or more saves in each period. Lundqvist was selected as the game's Third Star. He has made 30 or more saves in five of his eight appearances thus far in 2018-19.
  • Pavel Buchnevich registered a goal and posted a plus-one rating. He has tallied a point in four of nine games he has played this season (three goals, one assist). Buchnevich is tied for third on the Rangers in goals this season (three).
  • Brendan Smith recorded an assist and was credited with two hits in 19:52 of ice time. Smith has notched a point in three of the last seven games (one goal, two assists). He is tied for second among Rangers defensemen in assists (two) and points (three) thus far this season.
  • Brett Howden tallied an assist in tonight's game. He has registered a point in five of his first 10 career NHL games (two goals, three assists).
  • Neal Pionk led all skaters with six blocked shots and four hits while skating in a game-high 28:12 of ice time. He established a single-game career-high in ice time in tonight's contest. Pionk has led the Rangers in ice time in each of the last four games.
  • Marc Staal skated in his 771st career game as a Ranger in tonight's contest. He is now one game away from tying Adam Graves (772) for 10th place on the Rangers' all-time games played list (among skaters). Staal also ranks sixth among Rangers defensemen in career games played, trailing only Harry Howell (1,160), Brian Leetch (1,129), Ron Greschner (981), Jim Neilson (811), and Dan Girardi (788).
