Player Comments on Coaching Announcement

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Following today's morning skate at the MSG Training Center a few players offered their thoughts on the Rangers coaching changes made over the last 24 hours.

MATTHEW BARNABY:
"Glen just told us that we just have to do what got us here to this level and we'll all be successful. He said we have to make a playoff push and really work hard."

SANDY McCARTHY:
"We have to win a game tonight. That's the bottom line. Having Glen as the General Manager and Head Coach will certainly bring accountability to this team."

MARK MESSIER:
"We've proven that when we play well that we're a good hockey team and over the course of time, when we don't play well, things are going to change. Players get traded. People get fired. That's the nature of the game."

"Glen's a player's coach. He knows the players. This move gives him a lot more responsibility and work to do, but I really think coaching is an underrated part of the game these days. In my mind, it's one of the most important aspects in team sports."
