New York Rangers forward Petr Nedved has been suspended for three games, without pay, for high-sticking Bruins forward Joe Thornton during Game #422 at Boston on December 9, the National Hockey League announced today.
The incident occurred at 17:44 of the first period. Nedved was penalized for high-sticking on the play.
Nedved will miss the Rangers' games tonight at San Jose, Thursday night at Los Angeles and Friday night at Anaheim. He will be eligible to return Monday, Dec. 18, against Florida.
Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, based on the average annual value of his contract, Nedved will forfeit $56,149.73. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
