Players, Coaches and Alumni Welcome Fans Back with Open Skating Sessions Throughout the Tri-State Area
The New York Rangers welcomed over 10,000 fans back to hockey earlier this afternoon as they partnered with 26 local rinks throughout the tri-state area to host "Skate the Town Blue" - a FREE skate program for Rangers fans of all ages. 32 members of the current Rangers team, along with the coaching staff and five members of the Rangers Alumni, including Hall of Famer Rod Gilbert and Adam Graves, were positioned throughout the region to meet and greet the Rangers faifthful and thank them for their unwavering support of New York Rangers hockey.
Skate the Town Blue encouraged skaters of all ages not only to skate for free, but also to participate in fun skating games and Rangers trivia for fabulous Rangers prizes. Fans entered to win a sweepstakes for a grand prize of becoming a "Ranger for the Day," which includes a morning skate at the Rangers' practice facility, tickets to a regular season game, plus a visit to the locker room area after the game at Madison Square Garden. The lucky winner for this fantastic prize will be announced on the Rangers website, www.newyorkrangers.com, on Monday, September 26. Another highlight of the afternoon's event was a universal "Let's Go Rangers!" chant which rang out simultaneously through all of the participating rinks at 3:00 PM.
