Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather has announced today that left wing Krzysztof Oliwa has cleared waivers and has been assigned to Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL). He is expected to be in the lineup tonight as the Wolf Pack host the Worcester Ice Cats at the Hartford Civic Center.
Oliwa, 29, has accumulated 51 penalty minutes in nine games witrh New York this season. The Rangers acquired the winger on June 23, 2002 from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for future considerations.
In 309 career NHL games, Oliwa has tallied 14 goals and 26 assists for 40 points, along with 1,090 penalty minutes with New Jersey, Columbus, Pittsburgh and the Rangers.
The native of Tychy, Poland was originally New Jersey's third round choice, 65th overall, in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
