NYR Prospects in Postseason: April 7 Recap

Eight Rangers prospects competed in postseason play on Friday night in the OHL and WHL playoffs. Here is a player-by-player look at their performances:

PetruzalekJakub Petruzalek
Position: Left Wing
Team: Barrie Colts (OHL)
Playoff Series: Barrie vs. Brampton (series tied 1-1)
Petruzalek's Playoff Scoring to Date: 6 games, 4 goals, 5 assists
April 7: Barrie 4, Brampton 1 (at Barrie)

Petruzalek scored two goals, including the game-winner, as Barrie evened its series with Brampton at home. He now has nine points in six games and ranks second on the Colts in playoff scoring. Petruzalek notched his first goal just 45 seconds into the second period, giving Barrie a 2-0 lead. He scored again less than three minutes later on the power play. The second goal, at 3:22 of the second period, increased Barrie's lead to 3-0.

Psurny had a goal and an assist, helping the Tigers to their fifth straight playoff win, following a sweep of their first-round series. Psurny was credited with the second assist on David Schlemko's power-play goal and 4:55 of the third period, which put the Tigers up 4-1. He later closed out the game's scoring with his own power-play goal at 17:03 of the third.

Team: Saskatoon Blades (WHL)

Bahensky had the second assist on the Blades' lone goal, which was scored by Devin Setoguchi at 12:43 of the second period, cutting Medicine Hat's lead at the time to 2-1.

Team: Sudbury Wolves (OHL)
Playoff Series: Sudbury vs. Peterborough (Peterborough leads series 2-0)

April 6: Peterborough 6, Sudbury 1 (at Peterborough)

Staal was held without a point as the Petes rolled over the Wolves to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Peterborough put the game away early, building up a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period.

Team: Owen Sound Attack (OHL)
Playoff Series: Owen Sound vs. London (London leads series 1-0)

Koverko was held without a point for the sixth consecutive playoff game, as the Attack dropped the opener of their second-round series.

Coming off a big Game 7 performance against Seattle in the first round, Dubinsky was held without a point in Game 1 of the Winter Hawks' series against Vancouver. Portland won despite having its top scorer shut down, as Stanislav Balan got the game's lone goal on a first-period power play.

Although the Storm cruised past Plymouth in their second-round playoff series opener, Callahan missed his second consecutive game with a lower-body injury suffered in Game 3 of Guelph's first-round series.
