NYR Prospects in Postseason: April 6 Recap

Four Rangers prospects competed in postseason play on Thursday night in the OHL playoffs and NCAA Frozen Four. Here is a player-by-player look at their performances:

MooreGreg Moore
Position: Right Wing
Team: Maine Black Bears (NCAA)
Tournament status: Eliminated in Frozen Four semifinals
April 6: Wisconsin 5, Maine 2 (at Milwaukee)

Moore, the Black Bears captain, had one assist in his final college hockey game, as Maine's NCAA run was ended by Wisconsin. Moore had the first assist on Mike Lundin's even-strength goal at 11:29 of the third period to cut the Badgers' lead to 3-2, but the Badgers scored the next goal less than a minute later and went on to add an empty-netter. It was Moore's second trip to the Frozen Four. He was also on the Maine team that lost to Denver in the 2004 championship game.

Playoff Series: Barrie vs. Brampton (Brampton leads series 1-0)
Petruzalek's Playoff Scoring to Date: 5 games, 2 goals, 5 assists
April 6: Brampton 4, Barrie 1 (at Brampton)

Petruzalek picked up his seventh point of the OHL playoffs, picking up the only assist on the Colts' lone goal, which was scored by David Pszenyczny on a power play at 19:35 of the first. Although the goal gave Barrie a 1-0 lead, Brampton scored four unanswered goals to win the second-round series opener.

Playoff Series: Sudbury vs. Peterborough (Peterborough leads series 1-0)
Staal's Playoff Scoring to Date: 7 games, 0 goals, 6 assists
April 6: Peterborough 3, Sudbury 1 (at Peterborough)

Staal, the Wolves captain, had the second assist on Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn's goal at 5:08 of the second period. That goal tied the game at 1-1, but it was also the only one the Wolves managed to score in dropping their second-round series opener.

RyanBilly Ryan
Position: Center
Team: Maine Black Bears (NCAA)
Tournament status: Eliminated in Frozen Four semifinals
April 6: Wisconsin 5, Maine 2 (at Milwaukee)

Ryan, a sophomore drafted by the Rangers in 2004, was held without a point as the Black Bears were ousted from the NCAA tournament.
