NYR Prospects in Postseason: April 12 Recap

Seven Rangers prospects competed in postseason play on Wednesday in the OHL and WHL playoffs. Here is a player-by-player look at their performances:


PsurnyRoman Psurny

Team: Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL)
Playoff Series: Medicine Hat vs. Saskatoon (Medicine Hat wins series 4-0)

April 12: Medicine Hat 3, Saskatoon 1 (at Saskatoon)

Psurny scored the series-winning goal as the Tigers advanced to the WHL's Eastern Conference Finals by sweeping the Blades in the second round. Psurny's game-winner, scored just 15 seconds into the second period, gave Medicine Hat a 2-0 lead that stood up for the win. Psurny was also plus-2 for the Tigers, who were the WHL's regular-season champions and have yet to lose in the playoffs.

Callahan's Playoff Scoring to Date: 5 games, 5 goals, 8 assists
April 12: Plymouth 4, Guelph 3 (OT) (at Guelph)

Callahan scored the game's first goal on a power play at 8:34 of the first, but the Storm could not hold their lead and eventually lost on a goal by Plymouth's Dan Collins at 10:55 of overtime. With the loss, Guelph missed its chance to close out the series with a sweep at home.

Dubinsky's Playoff Scoring to Date: 10 games, 5 goals, 10 assists
April 12: Vancouver 4, Portland 3 (OT) (at Portland)

Dubinsky had the lone assist on the first goal of the game, scored by Jannik Hansen at 18:07 of the opening period. He finished the game with plus-1 rating, as Portland fell behind in the series on an overtime goal by Vancouver's Gilbert Brule.

Team: Saskatoon Blades (WHL)
Playoff Series: Medicine Hat vs. Saskatoon (Medicine Hat wins series 4-0)
Bahensky's Playoff Scoring to Date: 10 games, 2 goals, 5 assists
April 12: Medicine Hat 3, Saskatoon 1 (at Saskatoon)

Bahensky and the Blades saw their playoff run come to an end as they were swept out of the second round by Medicine Hat. Bahensky finished fourth in playoff scoring for Saskatoon with seven points.

Dupont was held without a point, but the Hitmen prevailed in a low-scoring game. Calgary goaltender Toronto draft pick Justin Pogge was the difference in goal, stopping 42 Warriors shots to even the series.

Koverko did not crack the scoresheet as the Attack were humbled by the Knights at home in Game 4.
