Richter was held without a point and did not take any penalties in the Czechs' tie with the Group A-leading Finns. The Czech Republic built up a 2-0 lead in the first period and led 3-1 after two before Finland came back on third-period goals by Aki Berg and Petteri Nummelin, who tied the game with just 1:12 remaining.

In other games at the World Championship tournament on Tuesday, Canada beat Team USA 2-1 in dealing the Americans their first loss, Norway beat Denmark 6-3, and Latvia defeated Slovenia 5-1.
