In 2006, the Rangers held the No. 6 seed and fell to the third-seeded New Jersey Devils in the opening round. Injuries played a big role in the Rangers' defeat, including a shoulder injury to captain Jaromir Jagr, that sidelined the Blueshirts' leading scorer for much of the series.
