New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has re-signed left wing Lucas Lawson. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Lawson, 25, skated in 32 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, tallying three goals and four assists for seven points, along with 27 penalty minutes. He also spent part of the season with the Charlotte Checkers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), appearing in 26 games and tallying 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points, along with 10 penalty minutes. After signing with New York as a free agent on April 4, 2003, the 6-0, 207-pound forward appeared in two post-season games with Hartford in 2002-03.
Prior to turning professional, he spent four seasons (1999-2003) with the Maine Black Bears of Hockey East (HE), skating in 145 career games and registering 50 goals and 43 assists for 93 points, along with 83 penalty minutes. Following his senior season, the Braeside, Ontario native was selected as a member of the Hockey East Second Team All-Conference, after leading the team with 21 goals, six game-winning tallies and 161 shots on goal.
