MSG Network will carry the 2005 NHL Entry Draft on July 30th beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET. The draft will be held at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa with representatives from all 30 teams in attendance.
Stan Fischler will provide additional commentary from the MSG SportsDesk studio in New York as MSG Network carries the TSN feed of the draft. Additional in-depth coverage of the draft will be available for hockey fans on MSG Networks' new tech-centric website, www.hockeynation.tv.
The four local hockey teams each have a first round pick this year as outlined by the Draft Lottery which aired on MSG on July 22nd. The Buffalo Sabres will select 13th overall, followed by the New York Islanders at 15, the New York Rangers at 16, and then the New Jersey Devils with the 23rd pick.
The Pittsburgh Penguins received the 1st overall pick for the 2005 Entry Draft and are widely expected to select Sydney Crosby with the first overall selection.
The 2005 NHL Entry Draft will not run the usual 9 rounds. It has instead been shortened to 7 rounds.
