Rangers captain Mark Messier returned to the line-up tonight vs. the New York Islanders, after missing the previous 11 games with a shoulder strain.
The captain, who had been practicing with the team for the last few days, was cleared to play in the morning by team doctors.
"Obviously I feel a little sore," he said after the game. "Just mostly the muscles around my shoulder which I haven’t used much. But I got out of the game good. I felt sluggish at the start but I felt little better as it went on. My shoulder is strong. I’m not worried about re-injuring it. Some of the muscles around it that I haven’t been able to strengthen to 100% are a little sore now. You know, I’ll just keep training and strengthening."
Messier, in his 23rd NHL season, has seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points in 36 games this season.
