Rangers captain Mark Messier, playing in his 25th season, is one of eight players playing in at least his 20th NHL season during the 2003-04 campaign.

Messier began his career with Edmonton in 1979, winning five Stanley Cups during his 12 years with the Oilers. He joined the New York Rangers for the first time in 1991 and helped the club end a 54-year drought by winning his sixth Stanley Cup (1994).

Messier then played three seasons in Vancouver before returning to the Rangers in 2000.

In 1,682 career NHL matches, the Edmonton, Alberta native has tallied 676 goals and 1,169 assists for 1,845 points, along with 1,868 penalty minutes, ranking among the NHL's all-time leaders in all offensive categories.
