Mark Messier (right) and Matthew Barnaby returned to practice today at the MSG Training Center and both are probable to return to the lineup on Saturday when the team visits the Toronto maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre (7:00 PM ET).
Messier missed last night's game vs. Chicago with neck spasms while Barnaby has missed the last three games with a mild MCL sprain in his right knee that he suffered on December 5 at Philadelphia.
"Both Messier and Barnaby looked really good today," said Rangers head coach Bryan Trottier. "They will probably both be back this weekend in Toronto."
The injury bug has caught up with the Blueshirts of late, with Mike Richter (concussion), Brian Leetch (ankle), Pavel Bure (knee) and Sylvain Lefebvre (broken finger) joining Messier and Barnaby on the sidelines.
"Injuries are part of the game," added Trottier. "You never like them, but you must accept it as part of the game. We have to maintain our energy and direction as a team."
