Lundqvist Leading the Way in Sweden; Marek Scores in Win

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Rangers goaltending prospect Henrik Lundqvist (right) continues his superb start to the 2004-05 Swedish Elite League season with the Frolunda Indians, following Sunday's 2-0 blanking of Sodertalje SK.

Lundqvist and the Indians are currently riding a five-game winning streak as the netminder has watched his league-leading goals against decline to a stingy 1.00, along with a robust save percentage of .965, which also is tops in the Swedish Elite circuit. In addition, his two shutouts lead the league and his seven games played are tied for the lead among all netminders.

Frolunda's five-game winning streak has cushioned their spot atop the Elitserien standings with a 6-1-0 record.
