Lefebvre Suffers Left MCL Sprain vs. Thrashers

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Rangers defenseman Sylvain Lefebvre suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee tonight vs. the Atlanta Thrashers, likely ending the steady 35-year old blueliner's season. The injury occurred from a first period knee-to-knee hit by Thrashers winger Benjamin Simon.

"I'm kind of fed up right now," said Lefebvre after the game. "It's hard to come back from a previous injury and now this one."

Lefevbre, who has recorded two assists and 10 penalty minutes in 35 games this season, also missed 39 games due to a fractured right index finger.

The native of Richmond, Quebec has appeared in 945 career NHL games with Montreal, Toronto, Quebec/Colorado and the Rangers, recording 30 goals and 154 assists for 184 points, along with 674 penalty minutes.
