Leetch Passes Gilbert on Rangers Games Played List

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Brian Leetch made another dent in the Rangers record books once again today, skating in his 1,066th game with the Blueshirts. By doing so, he moved into sole possession of second place on the Rangers' all-time games played list, passing Hall of Famer Rod Gilbert.

Former Blueshirt defenseman Harry Howell ranks first on New York's all-time games played list with 1,160.

Leetch has appeared in 45 games this season, collecting nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points. After missing 31 games due to a bruised left ankle, the two-time Norris Trophy winner has been nothing short of spectacular in his return. Over the last 17 games, Leetch has registered 10 points (five goals, five assists). He has also been named the first star of the game four times over the span.

In 1,066 career NHL matches with New York, Leetch has tallied 224 goals and 716 assists for 940 points, along with 497 penalty minutes. His 716 assists rank first on the club's all-time list, while his 940 points rank second.
