Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Janne Laukkanen
has been assigned to Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL) for a conditioning stint.
Laukkanen, who was acquired from Pittsburgh along with Alexei Kovalev, Dan LaCouture and Mike Wilson on February 10, had been skating with the Rangers while he recovered from a hip injury that has plagued him for most of the season. The blueliner has skated in 17 games with Pittsburgh this season, tallying one goal and six assists, along with eight penalty minutes.
The 6-1, 196-pound native of Lahti, Finland has appeared in 405 career NHL matches with Quebec, Colorado, Ottawa and Pittsburgh, collecting 21 goals and 99 assists for 120 points, along with 335 penalty minutes.
