The New York Rangers announced today that defenseman Darius Kasparaitis underwent successful arthroscopic surgery this morning to repair a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee. The procedure was performed by team physician Dr. Andrew Feldman at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
The rehabilitation process for Kasparaitis is expected to last two weeks and he will be ready for the start of Rangers training camp on September 10.
“The procedure performed on Darius this morning went extremely well,” stated Dr. Feldman. “He will begin his rehabilitation program immediately and we are extremely confident that he will be ready for the start of training camp.”
An MRI yesterday revealed the nature of the injury, but showed no damage to either the anterior cruciate ligament or the medial collateral ligament.
