The New York Rangers today announced the inaugural season of the Junior Rangers Youth Hockey program, presented by Powerade and Hebrew National. The main objective of the Junior Rangers Youth Hockey program is to make each child’s first experience with hockey exciting and memorable. The campaign is currently focused on 17 hockey arenas in the Greater New York metropolitan area, with nearly 12,000 skaters participating annually in various competition levels.
All arenas that are enrolled in the Rangers Youth Hockey program will be entitled to several unique, customized Rangers materials and experiences. Among the many membership benefits: multiple visits from the Rangers Road Tour, an on-ice clinic with current Rangers and team alumni, tickets to Rangers home games and assorted Rangers promotional material, as well as product and coupons from both Powerade and Hebrew National. In addition, all youth hockey organizations and arenas will be able to utilize a special facet of the Rangers official website, www.newyorkrangers.com, to facilitate individual activities and schedules.
To kick-off this far-reaching community initiative, Dan Blackburn and Jamie Lundmark, along with Rangers Alumni Brian Mullen and Glenn Anderson, will be conducting an on-ice clinic and autograph session for youth hockey participants at SKY RINK at Chelsea Piers on Monday, October 7. The clinic, which will begin at 4:00 PM, will feature approximately 40 children between the ages of six and 10-years old. All participants and attending family and fans will receive Rangers memorabilia and various merchandise items.
Additional arenas will be added to the Junior Rangers Youth Hockey program over the 2002-2003 hockey season.
