Induction Day at the Hall of Fame

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

The Hockey Hall of Fame welcomed five new members yesterday as Mike Gartner, Dale Hawerchuk, Jari Kurri, Viacheslav Fetisov and Craig Patrick were honored in Toronto.

Gartner, one of the fastest NHL players to ever lace up a pair of skates, appeared in 322 career matches with the Rangers, tallying 173 goals and 113 assists for 286 points from 1989-90 to 1993-94.

Kurri, who was acquired by the Blueshirts in a late season trade in 1996, notched one goal and four assists in 14 games with the club.

Craig Patrick, currently the General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins, served in the same capacity with the Rangers from November, 1980 to July, 1986. Patrick joins his grandfather, the legendary Lester Patrick, and his father, all-star winger Lynn Patrick, in the Hall.

Congratulations to these hockey greats!
