Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that goaltender JohanHolmqvist has been reassigned to Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Holmqvist, 24, made his 2002-2003 season debut on Wednesday vs. Chicago, relieving Dan Blackburn at the start of the second period, and stopping 16 of 18 shots. It was the fourth appearance of his Rangers/NHL career.
The Blueshirts' seventh choice (175th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft has posted a 4-2-2 record in eight games this season with Hartford. His 2.08 goals against average ranks fifth in the AHL and his .933 save percentage places second in the league.
