Hartford Wolf Pack Update - November 4 to 10

The Hartford Wolf Pack continued their winning ways this past week with victories over St. John's, Providence and Bridgeport. Hartford is now unbeaten in their last five games (4-0-1-0) and sit atop the East with a 7-3-2-1 record through 13 games.

GAME RECAPS:
Wednesday, November 6, 2002 - Hartford 8, St. John's Maple Leafs 2 - Jamie Lundmark recorded a hat trick and an assist and Jason LaBarbera made 26 saves to lead the Hartford Wolf Pack over the St. John's Maple Leafs (Toronto), 8-2. Lundmark, making his first appearance of the season with Hartford, tallied in each period of the contest, including a power-play goal with 3:02 left in the first period. LaBarbera stopped 20 of the final 21 shots he faced to improve to 4-3-2. John Tripp added a goal and an assist for the Wolf Pack, who won back-to-back games for the first time since October 12.

Friday, November 8, 2002 - Hartford 5, Providnce Bruins 2 - Ken Gernander had two goals and a assist and Jason LaBarbera turned aside 42 shots to lead the Hartford Wolf Pack to a 5-2 victory over the Providence Bruins (Boston). Gernander scored the third of three first-period goals by his club, 1:56 after Tomas Kloucek netted the first marker of the game, for a 3-0 lead. He assisted Dixon Ward, who finished with three points, on his fifth goal early in the third before burying an empty-netter with 41 seconds remaining in the match for Hartford, which has won three straight. LaBarbera stopped double-digit shots in each frame, including 18 of 19 in the first, all 14 he faced in the second and denied a penalty shot by Matt Herr midway through the second in the win.

Saturday, November 9, 2002 - Hartford 6, Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2 - Rico Fata recorded a hat trick to help the Hartford Wolf Pack defeat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (Islanders), 6-2. Fata, who was reassigned by the Rangers Friday after a four-game stint, scored with 1:18 remaining in the first period for a 2-0 lead. After Ken Gernander tallied a shorthanded goal 2:02 into the second, Fata netted his second of the night less than two minutes later on a penalty kill and finished with a feed from Dixon Ward at 14:19 of the second for a 5-1 lead. Ward added a power-play goal midway through the final stanza for his fifth point in two games since being sent down to Hartford, which has won four straight and has a five-game unbeaten streak. Jason LaBarbera made 23 saves for the win.


WOLF PACK NOTES:
Jamie Lundmark has recorded five points (three goals, two assists) in three games with the Wolf Pack since his AHL assignment on November 4 ... Recorded a hat trick and added an assist on Wednesday vs. St. John's.

Rico Fata netted a hat trick in Saturday's 6-2 win over Bridgeport and is tied for the team lead with 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in nine games.

John Tripp leads the AHL with 11 goals and ranks third on the Wolf Pack with 13 points ... Leads Hartford and is tied for third in the AHL with 52 shots on goal in 13 games.

Tomas Kloucek ranks fourth in the AHL and second among defensemen with 71 penalty minutes in 13 games ... Netted his third goal of the season on Friday vs. Providence.

Mike Mottau ranks first in the AHL with a +15 rating through 13 games ... Is tied for 13th among AHL defensemen with nine points (one goal, eight assists) ... Collected a pair of assists on Saturday vs. Bridgeport.

Roman Lyashenko leads all Wolf Pack forwards and is tied for third in the AHL with a +11 rating ... Collected five assists in Hartford's two games this past weekend and now has 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 13 games.

Joel Bouchard is tied for third among AHL defensemen with 12 points (five goals, six assists) ... Is tied for first among AHL blueliners with three power play goals and is tied for third with 42 shots on goal.

Jason LaBarbera is tied for second in the AHL with six wins and ranks third with 295 saves in 11 games ... Has posted a 5-0-2-1 record in his last eight appearances.

THE WEEK AHEAD:
The Wolf Pack begin a four-game road trip this week with a pair of games in Utah before heading to San Antonio and Houston next week.
