Hartford Wolf Pack General Manager Al Coates announced today that center Jeff Hamilton, Yale University’s all-time leading scorer, has signed an AHL contract with the Wolf Pack.
Hamilton, 24, led the Eli’s in scoring during 2000-01 (23-22-55 in 31 GP), and finished second in the ECAC in points. The 5-10, 182-pound Englewood, Ohio native was named a First-Team ECAC All-Star for a third straight year. He sat out all but two games of the 1999-00 season because of injury, after winning the ECAC scoring title in his junior year (1998-99, 20-28-48 in 30 GP). Hamilton was twice a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award (top player in U.S. Division One College Hockey), and also led the Eli’s in points his sophomore year (1997-98, 27-20-47 in 33 GP). Prior to his career at Yale, he was a three-sport athlete (hockey, soccer and baseball) at Avon Old Farms.
The Wolf Pack open their 2001-02 training camp Sunday, September 16. The team’s first preseason action is an intrasquad scrimmage Tuesday, September 18 at Veterans Memorial Skating Rink in West Hartford (7:00 faceoff). The regular-season home opener at the Hartford Civic Center is Saturday, October 13 (7:05 faceoff), vs. the new Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the New York Islanders.
