Game Notes: Rangers vs. Florida Panthers

Tonight's Game

The Rangers face-off against the Florida Panthers tonight at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.), in the second game of a back-to-back set. The Blueshirts currently rank third in the Atlantic Division standings with a record of 31-23-8, and sixth in the Eastern Conference with 70 points. The Rangers enter tonight's contest having been defeated by the Maple Leafs, 2-1, in the shootout yesterday at Air Canada Centre, and have earned a point in five of their last eight games. New York is 4-1-2 in their last seven games at MSG. Following tonight's contest, the Rangers will face-off against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, February 28, at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.), in their third game in four nights. The Panthers, 30-22-8, currently rank seventh in the Eastern Conference standings with 68 points, and have lost three of their last five games.

The Wolf Pack (31-23-2-3, 67 pts.) won their season-high fourth straight game on Wednesday night, thumping the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on the road, 5-1, despite being outshot by a margin of 40-25.  The Pack tied a franchise high with two shorthanded goals in the game, and the win upped the club’s road record to two games over the .500 mark, 13-11-2-1. The Wolf Pack have won six of their last seven road contests and are 9-3-1-0 in their last 13 on the road. The Pack are back on home ice on Friday night (7:00), hosting Manchester (Los Angeles affiliate), and then visit Portland (Buffalo affiliate) Saturday (7:00).
