Game Notes: Rangers at Detroit Red Wings

Tonight's Game

The Rangers face-off against the Detroit Red Wings tonight at Joe Louis Arena (7:00 p.m.) in the second game of a back-to-back set vs. Original Six opponents. The Blueshirts currently sit atop the Atlantic Division standings with a record of 6-1-0, and rank first in the Eastern Conference with 12 points. The Rangers enter tonight's contest having defeated the Maple Leafs, 1-0, in a shootout, yesterday at Madison Square Garden. Following tonight's match, the Rangers will return home to host the Dallas Stars, Monday, October 20, at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.). The Red Wings, 2-1-1, currently rank sixth in the Western Conference standings with five points following a 4-3 overtime loss on Thursday vs. Vancouver. Tonight's game will mark the only meeting this season and the first since Feb. 5, 2007.
