Forward Johan Witehall Claimed Off Waivers by Montreal

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Johan Witehall was claimed off waivers by the Montreal Canadiens.
Witehall, 29, tallied three assists and eight penalty minutes in 15 games with the Rangers this season. The Goteborg, Sweden native made his Rangers/NHL debut on January 30, 1999 at Detroit and has played parts of the past three seasons with New York and Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL). The 6'1" 198-pounder has posted five points (one goal, four assists) along with 10 penalty minutes in 28 career games with the Blueshirts.
Witehall was the eighth choice (207th overall) selected by the Rangers on June 27 in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
