The Montreal Canadiens claimed Rangers winger Gordie Dwyer
off waivers today.
Dwyer had appeared in 17 games with New York this season, collecting one assist and 50 penalty minutes. The 6-3, 198-pounder also recorded three goals and two assists, along with 117 penalty minutes in 15 matches with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season.
The Dalhousie, New Brunswick native has notched five assists and 341 penalty minutes in 95 career NHL games with the Rangers and Tampa Bay.
Dwyer was acquired by the Rangers on October 10, 2002 from Tampa Bay in exchange for forward Boyd Kane.
