Dawes Named Husky WHL Player of the Month

Calgary, Alberta - The Western Hockey League today announced that Kootenay Ice forward Nigel Dawes has been named the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for February. Dawes has registered points in 12 consecutive games, and helped lead the Ice to an 8-2-1-2 record in February.

The 19-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba recorded 16 goals and 23 points in 13 games. Dawes also had a +9 rating while recording only one minor penalty during the month.

Dawes scored five power play goals, three game-winning goals and added a shorthanded goal along with two hat tricks. He is currently ranked first in team scoring with 42 goals and 66 points.

Dawes was drafted by the New York Rangers in the fifth round, 149th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
