Dawes Named a WHL Western Conference First Team All-Star

Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today the Eastern and Western Conference Finalists for the 2004-05 WHL Awards, and the 2004-05 Eastern and Western Conference First and Second All-Star Teams. The winners of these awards along with the WHL Player of the Year will be announced at the 2004-05 WHL Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, May 4th, 2005.

For Nigel Dawes, this marks his second consecutive First Team All-Star selection. The Kootenay Ice captain ranked second in the WHL this season with 50 goals and ranked ninth among all players with 76 points in 63 games. His 13 game-winning tallies were tops in the league.

Dawes, who was New York's fifth selection (149th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, also posted a 20-game scoring streak to end the season, collecting 33 points (24 goals, nine assists) from February 5 to March 19.
