In between off-season workouts, Rangers right wing Colton Orr visited with children at NYU Tisch Hospital on Tuesday, August 12.
|Colton Orr has been with the Rangers since the midway point of the 2005-06 season and has logged 329 penalty minutes entering this year. |
On behalf of the New York Rangers and Garden of Dreams Foundation, Orr spread joy throughout the hospital – visiting patients room-to-room, signing autographs, posing for pictures and handing out goodies.
"I hope that I was able to distract the children," stated Orr. "And give them something to smile about for a couple of hours."
One of the Garden of Dreams' charity partners, the Tisch Hospital is a world-renowned center for the care of children with neurosurgical, cardiovascular, maxillofacial, and genetic disorders.
Orr, who led the Rangers with 159 penalty minutes last season, knows how important it is for the patients to have support while being treated at the hospital. "I realize how difficult it can be for some of these children and families," he said. "And to be able to help out and put smiles on their faces means a lot to me."
