Chris Kreider to Undergo Surgery

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that Chris Kreider will undergo surgery to repair a hand injury sustained on March 21 at Columbus. The procedure will be performed later today by Dr. Robert Hotchkiss at Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. He will be sidelined indefinitely

Kreider has registered 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points, along with 72 penalty minutes and a plus-14 rating in 66 games this season. He leads the team in plus/minus rating, is tied for first in power play goals (six), second in goals, ranks second in hits, and sixth in points. Kreider is also tied for fourth among NHL rookies in points and ranks fifth in goals. The Rangers have posted a record of 11-2-1 in games when he has tallied a goal, and are 19-7-2 when he has registered a point.

The Boxford, Massachusetts native was originally selected by the Rangers in the first round, 19th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
