CHL POST-SEASON UPDATE - NYR PROSPECTS:

The Medicine Hat Tigers swept the Everett Silvertips in four straight games to capture the 2004 Western Hockey League (WHL) Championship. The Tigers outscored the Silvertips 14-3 over the four-game set, including a pair of 3-0 shutout wins.

Ivan Baranka (right) collected one assist in the four games and finished the 2004 post-season with three goals and five assists for eight points, along with 26 penalty minutes in 20 games.

The 6-2, 185-pund defenseman from Dubnica, Slovakia was New York's second round choice, 50th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

SERIES NOTES:
Ivan Baranka and the Everett Silvertips rallied from a 3-1 series defecit to defeat the Kelowna Rockets in seven games, following their third consecutive overtime victory - a 2-1 win on April 27 in Kelowna.

Trailing 1-0 in the seventh and deciding game of the WHL Western Conference Championship, Baranka scored with 3:46 remaining in the third period to tie the score at 1-1, forcing overtime. Everett's Jeff Schmidt notched the game-winner 7:56 into the extra session to lift the Silvertips to the WHL Western Conference Championship.

* Baranka tallied a power play goal and two penalty minutes in Everett's Game One win over Kelowna ... Baranka notched a power play assist and two penalty minutes in Game Two ... Baranka netted a goal with 3:46 remaining in the third period of Game Seven which tied the game at 1-1, forcing overtime ... Everett posted the 2-1 OT win to wrap-up the series, surging back from a 3-1 series defecit ... Baranka posted two goals and one assist, along with 10 penalty minutes in seven games during the series.
