The Washington Capitals announced today that they have claimed forward Josh Green
off waivers from the Rangers.
Green, acquired from the Edmonton Oilers on December 12 in exchange for a 2004 conditional draft choice, has appeared in 24 games this season between the Oilers and Rangers, collecting two assists. The 6-4, 215-pound winger appeared in four games with the Rangers following the trade, recording two penalty minutes.
The 6-4, 215-pounder has appeared in 161 career NHL contests with the Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders and the Oilers over five NHL seasons, registering 23 goals and 24 assists for 47 points, along with 115 penalty. Green established career-bests in all offensive categories during the 1999-2000 season with the New York Islanders, registering 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 assists.
The native of Camrose, Alberta was originally Los Angeles' second round selection, 30th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
