Callahan, Petruzalek Nominated for Top OHL Honors

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the award nominees for the 2004-05 season, along with the awards announcement schedule. The nominees and announcement schedule for the league's three academic awards - the Bobby Smith Trophy, The Ivan Tennant Memorial Award and the Roger Neilson Memorial Award will be announced the week of April 18.

Rangers 2004 fourth round section (127th overall) Ryan Callahan (photo, right) is nominated for the Red Tilson Trophy, awarded each season to the player that is voted the most outstanding during the regular season by OHL writers and broadcasters. The Guelph Storm captain registered 28 goals and 26 assists for 54 points, along with 108 penalty minutes in 60 games in 2004-05.

Jakub Petruzalek, selected by New York in the ninth round (266th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, posted 23 goals and 40 assists for 63 points, along with 64 penalty minutes in 59 games with the Ottawa 67s in 2004-05. Petruzalek is one of 20 nominees for the Emms Family Award, presented annually to the top first year player as selected by OHL general managers.
