On November 6, Rangers alumnus Dan Blackburn brightened the afternoon of children and their families visiting them at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. The pediatric patients at the hospital had their day pleasantly interrupted by Blackburn as he made his way through the hospital visiting room-to-room.

Blackburn, a former first round draft pick of the Rangers, made bedside visits distributing Rangers cheer and unique hospital items for the children. The hospital items are part of the welcome kits provided to the Garden of Dreams Foundation by the Jennifer Ferraro Foundation, courtesy of Chris and Peter Ferraro. Blackburn signed autographs, took pictures and answered questions for some of the hospital’s biggest True Blue fans. Before leaving Blackburn signed additional photos for children who were not well enough for him to see.
"This isn’t something that I get to do enough," said Blackburn, "Usually when I am here, I am at a game but to step back and give some time to the New York community is excellent. If my few minutes here helps each child forget about their struggles for a little and puts a smile on their face, it’s the least I can do. They are all terrific kids and it’s an honor for me to be here with them."
