The New York Rangers announced today that left wing Anthony Duclair has been named the winner of the 2014 Lars-Erik Sjoberg Award, given to the best Rangers rookie in Training Camp, as selected by the media.

Entering Friday's contest, Duclair, 19, has registered three goals and two assists for five points, along with a plus-four rating in three preseason games. He is tied for fourth in the NHL in goals and is tied for ninth in the NHL in points in the preseason. He is the only teenager who has tallied five or more points in the preseason this year.

Duclair also leads the Rangers in points, plus/minus rating, and shots on goal (eight), is tied for the team lead in goals and game-winning goals (one), and is tied for second on the team in assists in the preseason. He registered a goal in each of the three games he has played in the preseason, and was named one of the game's Three Stars in each contest.

Duclair, who was selected by the Rangers in the third round, 80th overall, of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, tallied 50 goals and 49 assists for 99 points in 59 games with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) last season. He established career-highs in goals, assists, points, penalty minutes, power play goals (15), shorthanded goals (three), and game-winning goals (seven) last year.

The Pointe-Claire, Quebec native ranked third in the QMJHL in goals, sixth in the league in points, seventh in the league in power play goals, and tied for seventh in the league in game-winning goals in 2013-14. He registered at least one point in 45 of 59 regular season games and posted 30 multi-point efforts. Duclair was also named Central Hockey League (CHL) Player of The Week, awarded to the best player among the three Canadian Major Junior Leagues, for consecutive weeks (January 20 - 26 and January 27 - February 2).

The Lars-Erik Sjoberg Award, which was first presented in 1988, honors the memory of Lars-Erik Sjoberg, who was the Rangers chief European scout for eight years. During his time with the Blueshirts, Sjoberg played a prominent role in the team's decision to draft Europeans such as Tomas Sandstrom, Jan Erixon, and Ulf Dahlen. Prior to joining the Rangers as a scout, Sjoberg played five seasons with the Winnipeg Jets during their time in the World Hockey Association (WHA), and also skated with Winnipeg in its inaugural NHL season in 1979-80.
