What a night!!!! We ended a six year medal drought after capturing the gold medal last night, beating the Swedes in overtime. The whole game was an emotional roller coaster for our fans but we had enough Stanley Cup winners, Olympic gold winners and World Championship winners in our locker room that we held the fort and showed a tremendous amount of pride and character in overcoming a two-goal deficit to finally win the game.
After I scored the OT winner, the celebration allowed me and my teammates to release nine months of emotions that are built up over the course of the season. Winning doesn't just happen. You have to trust the guy beside you and believe that he's capable of doing the job.
That was my third World Championship gold medal and I'm looking forward to bringing back that winning attitude to the New York Rangers.
I'm now in Paris vacationing for a few days before I head to my off-season residence in California to begin preparation for the upcoming season.
I want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable summer and I'm looking forward to seeing you next year.
Talk to you soon,
