The New York Rangers Youth Street Hockey program, presented by Coca-Cola Live Positively, is celebrating its third season of promoting youth fitness in the community with an all-day tournament at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
Since November, the Rangers, NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA and Coca-Cola have hosted a series of free street hockey clinics for youth in New York City aimed to advocate the importance of living an active and healthy lifestyle.
More than 2,500 area children were able to get into the action and learn new hockey skills through the Street Rangers program, which is part of the NY Rangers’ larger youth hockey platform “Go Skate – Playing is the Goal” that offers a multitude of activities for local youth. Street Rangers will culminate this weekend with a free event on Sunday, April 28th from 10AM-5PM featuring a street hockey tournament, interactive clinics and activities for the whole family.
New York Rangers greats Nick Fotiu, Brian Mullen, and Ron Greschner will host the free outdoor event and legend Rod Gilbert will participate in an opening ceremonial puck drop, along with representatives from Madison Square Garden and Coca-Cola. All attendees are encouraged to visit Exploreum Hall aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid, a fully interactive exhibition space, throughout the day.
