TORONTO (April 4, 2006) - Nashville Predators defenseman Brendan Witt has been suspended for one game, without pay, as a result of a kneeing incident during NHL game #1115 against the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 3.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Witt will forfeit $8,530.61. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident occurred at 9:50 of the first period when Witt was involved with Columbus player David Vyborny. No penalty was assessed on the play.
Witt will miss tomorrow's game in Chicago.
