Detroit is the only team to clinch a playoff slot in the Western Conference thus far. The Wings have also secured their division title and home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Detroit has a magic number of 14 points over San Jose to secure home ice advantage throughout the playoffs … San Jose has a magic number of two points to clinch a playoff slot and 13 points to secure home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs … The LA Kings are the only team eliminated from playoff contention. The next closest team, the St. Louis Blues, is six points away from elimination.


Central Division
After Thursday night (Mar. 20), all five teams only have games left against divisional opponents … The Washington at Chicago (Mar. 19) and St. Louis at Ottawa (Mar. 20) games are the final out-of-division games for Central Division teams this season … Chicago has the best intra-divisional record at 14-9-1, followed by Nashville at 13-7-4, St. Louis at 12-11-1, and Columbus & Detroit tied at 10-11-2.


Northwest Division
The top four teams in the division are still separated by two points … Minnesota leads the division with 86 points … Calgary, Vancouver, and Colorado are tied for sixth – eighth in the Conference with 84 points each … After the Minnesota at San Jose game (Mar. 19), all five teams only have games left against divisional opponents … Colorado has the best record within the division at 15-8-1, followed by Vancouver at 12-6-5, Minnesota at 12-9-3, Calgary at 11-8-4, and Edmonton at 9-13-2.


Pacific Division
The second and third place teams in the division are likely to meet in the #4 vs. #5 seed first round match-up in the Western Conference playoffs … Current #5 seed Dallas holds a five point lead over Calgary, Vancouver, and Colorado, the teams tied for the #6 seed in the Conference … After the Minnesota at San Jose game (Mar. 19), all five teams only have games left against divisional opponents … Phoenix has the best record within the division at 17-7-0, followed by Dallas at 13-8-3, Anaheim & San Jose at 11-8-5, and Los Angeles at 8-15-1.
