Tootoo Named Nashville PHWA's 2012 Masterton Trophy Nominee

by Staff Writer / Nashville Predators
The Nashville chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association revealed Jordin Tootoo as their nominee for this year's Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The Masterton Trophy is awarded each year to the NHL player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey." The award was presented by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association to honor the late Bill Masterton, a player for the Minnesota North Stars who exhibited those qualities. Masterton died on Jan. 15, 1968, as a result of an on-ice injury.

Tootoo has appeared in 68 games this season, scoring 6 goals and 29 points, surpassing his previous career-high of 18 points set in 2007-08 and matched last year.
