Some news and notes from today's practice:

- Light day on-ice at morning skate with several players opting for off-ice warm-ups instead.

- Coach Trotz confirmed that Joel Ward will not play tonight, but indicated that Ward could be back for Satuday's game.

- Coach Trotz was complimentary of Boston, drawing  comparisons between the Bruins and LA Kings -- the Bruins have a deep talented roster with big, skilled skaters and an elite goaltender.

- Colin Wilson considers himself an honorary New Englander. Wilson was born in Connecticut, played his college hockey in Boston (at BU), and scored his first career NHL goal when the Preds visited the Bruins last season.

- Come out and join the Nashville Predators this Thursday in Smashville for an evening full of St. Patty’s day festivities, presented by MY MAPCO. Enjoy special Preds St. Patty’s Day Beads provided to all fans in attendance and green beer in our beer garden. The party starts on the Bridgestone Arena plaza at 4 p.m. and the puck drops at 7 p.m. for a special St. Patrick’s Day-matchup vs. the Boston Bruins. Enjoy intermission music from a Celtic band and entertainment from Irish step dancers. For tickets, visit
