Suter, Legwand participate in 'Got Skills'

by Staff Writer / Nashville Predators

On Wednesday, Jan. 18 and Saturday, Jan. 21, the Nashville Predators hosted Ace's Got Skills competitions at Centennial Sportsplex and Southern Ice Arena. During the events, over 125 Squirt and Peewee house and travel youth hockey players and goaltenders of all skill levels competed from the Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Huntsville, Alpharetta (Georgia), western Arkansas, and Mississippi areas to determine who's "Got Skills" in the South. Predators defenseman Ryan Suter took part in the on-ice activities Jan. 18 at Centennial Sportsplex, while center David Legwand signed autographs on Jan. 21 at Southern Ice Arena. This one-of-a-kind event combines a top-shelf ice hockey skills competition with a powerful grassroots, youth-oriented community outreach program. Supported by the NHL, Ace's Got Skills has been created to showcase the glory of the human spirit both on the ice and through the league's charitable partnership with the Ace Bailey Children's Foundation.

Launched in September 2004 and growing with the involvement of several NHL teams--including the Nashville Predators--Ace's Got Skills is modeled after the NHL's popular All-Star Super Skills Competition and gives boys and girls ages 9-12 the opportunity to come out and test their skill level in the following key ice hockey categories: fastest skater, hardest shot, accuracy shooting, breakaway shoot-out and best goalie. Winners from local competitions advance to the Ace's Got Skills National Finals to be held in New York City in May. For more information on Ace's Got Skills, please visit www.acesgotskills.com.

The Nashville Predators would like to congratulate the winners of the Nashville Ace's Got Skills competitions, listed below, and wish the finalists good luck at the national finals.
