Well, half way through the summer already. I've been enjoying the off-season back in Thornbury, Ontario, spending time with my wife, Jodi, and our infant son, Joseph. This is my first off-season as a dad, so it's been a new experience for me; a lot of fun.
We've kept active by hiking and cycling and spending a lot of hours training for the upcoming season. I've also been able to sneak out and play some golf (OK, a lot of golf, but hey that's my reward for a good workout). Earlier this month I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to play in the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic golf tournament; it was out at one of my "home greens" at the Georgian Bay Golf club.
We did take a quick family vacation down to Florida for a week this summer. Did some deep-sea fishing, sailing, and soaking up the sun. Being a new father has to be the greatest highlight of the entire summer, though.
But I'm looking forward to getting back to Nashville with Preds and get into my usual in-season routine.
