/ Nashville Predators
Predators prospect Nick Spaling was one of 37 players invited to take part in Canada’s National Junior Selection Camp, Hockey Canada and the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced on Monday. The camp, which features Canada’s best junior-aged hockey players (born in 1988 or later), will take place Dec. 10-14 at the Father David Bauer Olympic Arena in Calgary, Alberta.
Spaling has been lighting up the Ontario Hockey League this season as a member of the Kitchener Rangers, totaling 26 goals and 45 points in just 28 games. The native of Drayton, Ontario was named OHL Player of the Week earlier this season, and currently ranks third in the league in goals. Nashville selected Spaling in the second round (58th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The group of 37 will be whittled down to a final roster of 23 players who will travel to the Czech Republic for the World Junior Championships starting Dec. 26.
